Remarks: The Leopold's angelfish ( Pterophyllum leopoldi ) is the third accepted species in the Pterophyllum genus and can be found in both northern Brazil and southern Guyana. There, they can be found in slow moving, acidic tributaries under floating plants and wood. These fish are commonly misnamed as Pterophyllum d umerilii though the accepted scientific name is Pterophyllum leopoldi . One of it's common names, the Roman-nosed angelfish, comes from an identifying feature of this species where the face has a more arched slope and a longer mouth. This shape is not always easy to identify when the fish is young, so another aspect to look for is the presence of a black blotch just under the beginning of the dorsal fin.
